I was just at the Autodesk “One Team Conference” where the staging was in the round — stage on center, audience on all sides. Given there were almost 3,000 people there, it was a great way to create a sense of intimacy that isn’t possible with a traditional stage. You primarily watch the screens (even when sitting in the 4th row) so the idea of looking at someone’s back really isn’t an issue.  Overall I thought it was really effective! But I’m glad I don’t have to be onstage presenting … it definitely takes extra coaching to have presenters use the space effectively. Our client, the SVP of Sales and Marketing, handled it really well. Kudos to him for investing the time and energy to rehearse.
